However, it has long been known that some chemicals that are marketed can have a negative effect on human health and the environment.<\/p><\/div><\/section><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"><div class=\"avia_textblock \"><p>The effects of exposure to environmental contamination are usually long-term. It is associated with various neurological disorders, reproductive and developmental disorders, respiratory diseases, asthma and allergies, alterations of the hormonal system, immune system dysfunctions, obesity and cancer.<\/p><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/indoor-air-quality-iaq\/inside-story-guide-indoor-air-quality\">U.S. Environmental Protection Agency<\/a> (EPA) estimates that 72% of chemical exposure to humans occurs indoors. For example, dangerous wood preservatives or heavy metals from industrial waste can be found in building materials in houses from the 1960s or 1970s. Air samples are taken by pumping and reacted in reactive media.<\/li><li>Dust tests with recent dust aspiration. It allows to know the presence of low volatile harmful substances and heavy metals.<\/li><li>Material testing can be used to identify sources of harmful substances.<\/li><li>Direct indication devices, only for some very specific toxicants.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2f1a34b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2f1a34b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY LIMIT VALUES<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dbb2911 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dbb2911\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Indoor air should contain no more harmful substances than those found outdoors.<\/p><p>There are hardly any legal limit values in dwellings. On the other hand, the existing limits for workplaces are not very demanding and are more oriented to workers&#8217; safety than to their health.<\/p><p>There are multiple recommendations for harmful indoor concentrations, such as those of EUROPAEM or WHO. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carlessuria.com\/en\/bioconstruction-benefits\/\">bio-construction<\/a>, the limit values of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carlessuria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/richtwerte-2015-englisch.pdf\">SBM-2015<\/a> of the <em>Institut f\u00fcr Baubiologie<\/em>, and those of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agoef.de\/\">AG\u00d6F<\/a> (Working Group of the German Ecology Research Institutes), whose indicative values are more restrictive than the legal ones, are often
