We often worry about comfort and accidents, but what about health?<\/p><\/div><\/section><section><div><p>More than half of office workers suffer from work-related problems: headaches, conjunctivitis, respiratory difficulties, dermatitis, depression&#8230;<\/p><p>This problem is known as the syndrome of the\u00a0<strong>sick office<\/strong>\u00a0and is defined as a set of diseases caused or stimulated by air pollution and dust in enclosed spaces.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/section><div><div><div><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"office\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carlessuria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/oficina-enferma-845x321.jpg\" alt=\"large office\" width=\"845\" height=\"321\" \/><\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><\/div><\/div><div><h3>POLLUTANTS IN THE OFFICE<\/h3><\/div><section><div><p>Multiple contaminating factors can add up in the office, but all of them can be solved:<\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.carlessuria.com\/en\/electromagnetic-radiation-study\/\"><strong>Electromagnetic fields<\/strong><\/a>. From electrical installations and wireless technologies.<\/li><li><strong>Electrostatic charges<\/strong>. Generated by synthetic fabrics and low humidity.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.carlessuria.com\/en\/indoor-toxicity\/voc-volatile-organic-compounds\/\"><strong>Volatile organic compounds<\/strong><\/a>. Released by some furniture and the glues they contain, industrial cleaning products and to a lesser extent by paints. preferably mechanical.<\/li><li>Grounding of all electrical installations and metallic elements.<\/li><li>Internet connection via Ethernet cabling.<\/li><li>Fine cleaning by vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters.<\/li><li>Fine filtering of the air coming in from outside.<\/li><li>Filtering of laser printer vents.<\/li><li>Laminate furniture is better than chipboard.<\/li><li>Imitation of natural lighting when natural is not possible.<\/li><li>Acoustic shielding between workers and between sources.<\/li><li>Natural pest prevention systems such as laurel or lavender.<\/li><li>Natural cleaning products.<\/li><li>Humidity and temperature control.<\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><\/section><div><div><div><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"office-wood\" measurements of air and dust quality<\/a>\u00a0using statistical methods.<\/strong>\u00a0They make it possible to supplement the limited legal regulation and to identify whether there are toxic chemical compounds whose concentration exceeds the expected values.<\/p><p>There are legal limits for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carlessuria.com\/en\/artificial-radiation\/\"><strong>electromagnetic radiation<\/strong><\/a>, but these are below the thresholds where science finds effects such as fatigue, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carlessuria.com\/en\/insomnia-electricity-and-geobiology\/\">insomnia<\/a>, cardiac arrhythmias or simply a loss of wellbeing, all of which affect the health of workers.\u00a0<strong>It is recommended that they be measured by complementing the current legal limits with international standards for indoor
