NA7 vs NA8: WHICH BIOSWITCH TO CHOOSE?

Bioswitches (automatic electrical disconnectors) are devices that are installed in the electrical panel and serve to automatically eliminate the exposure of people to alternating electric fields when a circuit is not in use.

A very common case is in bedrooms, where there is often embedded electrical wiring just behind the head of the bed. Even if we are not using any devices, these wires emit alternating electric fields. Some studies suggest that prolonged exposure to these fields may:

  • Alter the production of melatonin (sleep hormone).

  • Increase oxidative stress in cells.

  • Cause involuntary micro-awakenings during the night.

The bioswitches eliminate these fields automatically. When no power consumption is detected, the bioswitches cut off the circuit voltage and eliminate this electric field. When a lamp or appliance is switched on again, the device instantly reconnects the power.

Models such as the NA7 and NA8 from Gigahertz Solutions are widely used in domestic environments to reduce exposure to electro-pollution and improve night-time rest.

NA7 COMFORT - SIMPLICITY

The NA7 is an established, reliable and easy-to-install model.

It is mounted on a DIN rail in the electrical panel and is VDE certified for electrical safety. It is intended for single-phase domestic installations.

It works well with all types of electrical consumers, including LEDs and fluorescent bulbs, ensuring a clean disconnection, leaving the circuit practically voltage-free (<4mV).

It incorporates an integrated LED indication for status display: for example, it signals when the circuit is switched off (de-energized) and serves as an operating diagnostic during installation. In addition, it has overvoltage protection and is designed for more than 15 million switching operations.

This model provides a reliable and safe automatic disconnection of electrical circuits.

NA8 ULTIMA - MORE SENSITIVITY

The NA8 model maintains all the functions of the NA7 and adds:

  • Adjustable sensitivity to adapt to circuits with residual consumption (standby, domotics, indicator lights, presence detectors, etc.).

  • Colored LED indicators to show if there is consumption, if the circuit is active (green) or in standby (yellow).

  • Manual button to activate/deactivate the circuit as required and check the installation.

  • Even lower residual voltage: practically zero (<1mV), especially appreciated by electrosensitive people or bio-construction environments.

This model is designed for homes with appliances on standby, home automation systems or for those who want maximum reduction of electric fields. It should be noted that all these improvements make the NA8 slightly more expensive: around 250-280€ (see price today) compared to approximately 210-240€ for the NA7 (see price today).

ASPECTS TO BE CHECKED BEFORE

It is very important to know that these devices only act on the electrical installation itself. If the electric field you want to eliminate comes from the next door or from a communal corridor, the bioswitch cannot cut it off.

For this reason, before installation, it is recommended that a professional electromagnetic radiation measurement be carried out to check that electric fields are present and, if they are, that they come exclusively from the electrical circuit itself.

CONCLUSIONS

Both the NA7 and NA8 meet the objective of minimising electric fields in the home automatically and safely.

  • If you have a simple installation and want a quick solution to reduce electro-pollution, the NA7 is sufficient.

  • If you want more control, have electronic equipment that consumes at idle or are looking for the highest level of protection, the NA8 is more worthwhile.

👉 In all cases, remember: measure the source of the electric field first. Sleeping with the circuit actually disconnected can make a big difference to your rest and well-being.
